Murici rapé: the rapé you can build on
Strength: 5 out of 7. Character: insight, centering, presence.
There is a kind of power that does not shout. That does not want to impress. That is simply there, time and again. That is Murici.
Murici rapé is made by the Huni Kuin in the state of Acre, in the Brazilian Amazon. It is strong enough for a real experience. And yet it is also a good start if you are just getting acquainted with rapé. Tsunu, Rosa and Murici are all good starts, each with its own character. Murici is the broad, balanced one of them.
What is Murici rapé?
Imagine a tree with clusters of yellow flowers that later turn red-orange. Then come small, yellow fruits. Almost everyone in Brazil knows them. You eat them fresh or drink them as juice. That is the murici tree. The botanical name is Byrsonima crassifolia.
The Huni Kuin make ash from that tree. That ash is the base of this rapé. The tree that people know for its sweet fruits also gives something very different: a calm, solid blend.
You pronounce rapé as "ha-pé". That is why you also see the spelling hapé, and sometimes rapeh. It is a fine plant powder that the Huni Kuin have traditionally used in ceremony and meditation.
How Murici is made
The Huni Kuin make ash from the murici tree. That ash is ground very finely. Then leaves from traditional plants are added.
Everything is done by hand. The leaves are dried, finely pounded and further pulverized by the sun. Then everything goes through a large sieve. During the work, songs are sung and prayers are offered.
Rapé you see elsewhere is often a bit coarser and grainier. Our Murici is super fine, almost powdery. You can see that as soon as you open the bottle. It is the work of hands, not machines. And because it is so fine, you need less of it.
Directly from the Huni Kuin
Kevin has had a connection with a Huni Kuin village in Acre for about eight years. They speak to each other daily, via WhatsApp and video calls. From them he learns which plants go into it and how to recognize them. Going to the village is at the top of his list.
The rapé comes directly from them, without any middleman. Almost every month a small, fresh shipment arrives. Kevin does the final inspection. Then the rapé immediately goes into a dark bottle that blocks uv-light. This way, the prayers and chants remain captured in the bottle.
The Huni Kuin are also called Kaxinawá. They themselves choose the name Huni Kuin, "the True People". So do we.
"They get the price they ask. I never haggle. And besides, a part of the proceeds goes back to the village." — Kevin
How do people experience Murici?
Many people describe Murici in two words: simply good. That sounds small. But anyone who works with rapé knows how much that says.
Murici does not pull you in one direction. It does not make you wild or sleepy. What people say is that everything falls a little into place. You sink into your body. Your head becomes calmer. And you stand in the center of yourself again.
Many people experience Murici as clearing, from top to bottom. Not with a heavy hand, but broadly and evenly. Afterwards they feel clear and balanced, not exhausted.
How many people experience Murici
- Balance: not too much and not too little
- A calm, clear feeling, from your head to your feet
- Standing centrally again, in the center of yourself
- Clarity and insight, without being overwhelmed
This is experience, not a promise. Everyone experiences rapé differently.
Who is Murici rapé for?
Murici suits many people. It is not spectacular. It is reliable.
You are just starting with rapé
Murici gives you a good idea of what rapé is: broad, honest and balanced. Start small and build up slowly. Would you rather start softer? Then also look at Rosa, strength 3 out of 7.
You are looking for a steady base
Do you also work with stronger varieties? Then many people choose Murici as a steady base among them. A blend you know and can count on.
You are preparing a ceremony or a space
Ceremonial leaders use Murici for the start of a ceremony, to prepare themselves and the space. Many people experience that the space feels calmer and cleaner afterwards.
You do not want a spectacle, but balance
Do you have no need for an intense experience? Do you just want to be clear and feel good in your skin? Then Murici is a good choice.

When do you use Murici?
At the beginning or the end of your day
As a fixed moment in the morning, before the day begins. Or precisely in the evening, to close what the day brought you. Both are possible. Murici is a calm tuning.
After a full day
When your head is full of people, emails and impressions. Many people use Murici then to land again.
When you do not know which variety you need
No clear question? No idea what is going on? Then many people choose Murici. It is broad enough to receive you without a plan.
In the days after a heavy session
After an intensive ceremony or a stronger variety, such as Murú. Many people then experience Murici as calm and supportive, while everything finds its place.
