It combines two things from the forest: the seeds of \u003cem\u003eAnadenanthera\u003c\/em\u003e and the ash of the Paricá tree. This combination has a long history in visionary rituals in the Amazon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou will come across the name in many ways: Parika, Paricá, or Parica. It is all the same name. This ash is ground very finely. Then the seeds of \u003cem\u003eAnadenanthera\u003c\/em\u003e are added.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEverything is done by hand. No machines. It is dried, pounded, and sifted. The sun does the rest. During the process, songs are sung and prayers are offered.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRapé you see elsewhere is often coarser and grainier. Ours is superfine, almost powdery. That shows how much handwork goes into it. Kevin does the final inspection. The rapé goes directly into a dark bottle that blocks uv-light. This keeps the prayers and songs trapped in the bottle.
